Pay less tax!

How can you keep more of the pot at the end of your rainbow for yourself? At Discountants, we are fully aware that most people employ an accountant for one of two reasons. 1) I have to fill in a tax return and I am not sure about the intricacies of the questions I am being asked. Best get an expert, a professional accountant to do it. 2) A professional accountant might be able to see opportunities in my finances to save me tax. At Discountants, Kate is fully aware that there is little point in reducing your tax bill if your accountants bill is larger than the saving he's made! We want happy clients and the best way to achieve that is to make sure that the formula "tax saved - accountants costs" always leaves the client with a net benefit - extra money in his pocket! Therefore, we do not generally run up big accountants bills, attributing tiny proportions of domestic water bills to "business use" for office based people who work at home when there is a perfectly good "use of room in home allowance" which can make a good saving in tax for virtually no accountancy cost. We always try to judge these things in the clients favour. Does DIY pay? Nevertheless, there are many who believe that the best thing will be to do their own accounts because it seems inconceivable to them that their tax savings would be more than their accountants bill.
