What is DO?

DO is a small piece of software with a clever twist. Typically you put all your accounting paperwork in a 'day bag' as it comes in and you log it into DO as you transfer the paperwork from the day bag to a larger 'year bag' as the day bag fills up.

The paperwork you log into DO is saved onto your computer of course. DO also sends the information to us by creating and sending us an email. In this way when it comes to your year end, we already have all the information we need and you have all the actual paperwork in the year bag.

DO 4 WHO?

Who will benefit most from DO? Frankly people whose paperwork is not too well organised! Actually, DO is also a great system for anyone who is self employed or has a small business where the owner is usually the one doing the book-keeping. It is ideal for those who don't like buying, installing, backing up and maintaining software and data on their PC's.

Most of us are pretty un-keen when it comes to paperwork and we have recognised this when we designed DO. Emails sent by DO on your PC are processed by a special version of DO in our office. It notes how often and how much paperwork you submit and will prompt you by email to do paperwork according as often as you'd like. However, if it sees that you haven't been doing your paperwork or there is less data than expected then it will send you an email as a reminder. Essentially, the more inactive you become, the more active it becomes in reminding you.

We like to call this Enagging!

Eventually, even the process of enagging stops but then DO sends us an email and we give you a call to see if everything is OK.

DO is also a powerful accounts package in its own right. You can request business reports, creditors and suppliers reports, ledgers and bottom lines, within DO and these are emailed to you. The periodic submission of data enables us to work really closely with you and spot opportunities and any accounting problems in your business as early as possible. This might save you large amounts of money or even enable you to capitalise on opportunities in a way which would never present itself if you only visit or submit data to your accountant a few times a year.

Security

The security conscious among you will be pleased to know that all emails are highly encrypted. Security is also enhanced because only a small amount of your business data is transmitted at any one time. Also, your data is not held on local PCs but you can download DO for use on any computer. Therefore, if your laptop is nicked your business data is still safe. Likewise you don't need to worry about backup, theft, fire, hardware breakdown, network configuration or software updates. By using emails to talk between DO on your computers and DO in our office, we have avoided the need to store all your data centrally on a web server, where it is exposed to the whole internet with the serious security concerns that implies.

DO is an exciting concept and an evolving product so we welcome all suggestions from our client users to make it more powerful and useful - but we will never compromise the pure simplicity of the idea by loading it up with menus full of options no-one uses or understands!

Of course we are more than happy to process paperwork as paper at Discountants. We are also happy to work with your Sage or Quickbooks data.
